Last night I sat down with the band for the first time and we dove right into it. We started with the 2 most recent songs I wrote that weren't on the demo. Figured I'd get that out of the way and I was surprised at how fast it all came together. I didn't bring a camera but we recorded what we worked on so I have a rough cut of the songs on CD. At first the rehearsal was unnerving for me but once we got into it I was amazed that I'd had finally reached the next level in this process. After almost 2 years of writing and planning to finally sit down and start fleshing it out was awesome. I think I understand how Dr. Frankenstein felt we he started creating his monster. I just hope my monster doesn't run away and then try to kill me. Boy, wouldn't that suck.
After the rehearsal I was thinking about the possibility of doing a album before the show opens. I'm nuts right? I talked to Tim McCoy (bassist) about it and he said, why not? So, now I'm thinking a week or 2 before we open we go into the studio and bang out the songs in a day and bam we got a cd to sell. We'll see. If the rest of the music comes together like it did last night then there's no reason why we couldn't do it.
Next up? Auditions on the 24th.
Cheers,
Billy Butler
