Gay Bride of Frankenstein, which was part of the 2009 New York Musical Theatre Festival, is aiming for an Off-Broadway debut during the 2012 season. Entertainment lawyer Eric S. Goldman will produce.
The new musical was penned by Dane E. Leeman (book) and Billy Butler (book, music and lyrics) and is described as a "pop/rock, fairy tale musical that follows the exploits of four high school friends on one fateful Halloween night at a very unconventional Monsters Ball. It's John Hughes meets Scooby-Doo, and asks the age old question: 'Will the girl get the girl?'"
The musical was originally produced as a workshop at The Players' Ring in Portsmouth, NH.
